YARMOUTH, N.S. — A Yarmouth area man died after being struck by a forklift at a Hammonds Plains woodsiding plant yesterday.

Theodore John Clements, 55, was declared dead at the scene when a forklift pinned him against the side of his truck at Cape Cod Wood Siding, on the Hammonds Plains Road.

Clements, an employee of Yarmouth-based D.G. Cushing Construction, was picking up a load of siding when the accident occurred.

The forklift operator was reportedly moving the lumber from a warehouse across the delivery yard. Clements was standing at the rear of his tractor-trailer, with his back turned and apparently did not see or hear the machine coming.
