TORONTO, Ont – Transportation Media is starting the new year with an important addition to its editorial team. Carolyn Gruske, an experienced, award-winning journalist whose byline has appeared in daily newspapers such as the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail, has been hired as the editor of Fleet Executive magazine.

Carolyn will also work across all the other Transportation Media titles – Truck News, Truck West, Canadian Shipper, TMTV, CanadianShipper.com and TruckNews.com. She will also be taking a leading role in the 2014 Surface Transportation Summit and other Transportation Media events.

“Carolyn is a significant addition to our editorial team. Transportation Media prides itself on being the leader in industry news and also providing valuable insight on industry trends and issues. Almost every major trucking industry story appears first on trucknews.com. Carolyn’s strong ability to chase down a story will boost our market leading online presence,” said editorial director and publisher Lou Smyrlis.

Gruske, who has more than 15 years of journalism experience, was most recently editor of MM&D, reporting extensively on supply chain and distribution issues. She also spent three years writing about IT-related issues for Computerworld Canada.

Fleet Executive magazine complements the strong news focus offered by sister publications Truck News and Truck West and website trucknews.com by providing analysis of industry trends and issues of interest to for-hire and private fleet managers and executives. Carolyn’s strong feature writing skills and magazine management experience are a perfect fit with Fleet Executive.

Carolyn has degrees from the University of Western Ontario, and Ryerson Polytechnic University.

With Carolyn, Transportation Median now has 6 full time editors covering transportation issues across the country and a deep pool of experienced contributors.

“We have the largest, most talented and most experienced editorial team in transportation today,” said Smyrlis.
