HALIFAX, N.S. — The Halifax Gateway Council (HGC) is hosting three separate inbound missions to Halifax for commercial delegates from North America, Europe and Asia. The North American edition of the Halifax Logistics Park Summit takes place today and tomorrow, with the European and Asian versions taking place Nov. 27-28 and late March, respectively.

“Strategically located on the East Coast of North America, the deep-water Port of Halifax and the award-winning Halifax Stanfield International Airport are the anchors of a seamlessly integrated transportation system that is open for business,” says Joyce Carter, Halifax Gateway Council chairperson. “We have geographic advantages, an educated and reliable labour force, and over $100 billion in mega projects underway, or scheduled to get underway, in Atlantic Canada. The delegates will see first-hand the benefits of the Halifax Gateway.”

The summits will include presentations and meetings with the Port of Halifax, Halifax Stanfield International Airport, CN, Greater Halifax Partnership and all three levels of government. Infrastructure tours will also be provided including the container terminals and the Atlantic Gateway-Halifax Logistics Park. There will also be one-on-one meetings with local business and an opportunity to network with stakeholders including government partners.

“Nova Scotia is geographically positioned to be a significant part of the sea and air freight gateway to and from North America because of our infrastructure links and proven capabilities. Through jobsHere, we are using our advantages to compete on a global scale,” said Economic and Rural Development and Tourism Minister Percy Paris. “This is a vital project in helping the province seize new opportunities and create good jobs for families across the province.”

The project is funded by the Government of Canada’s Gateways and Border Crossings Fund in support of the Atlantic Gateway and Trade Corridor, Nova Scotia Economic Rural Development and Tourism, the Port of Halifax, the Halifax Stanfield International Airport, and the Greater Halifax Partnership.
