TORONTO, Ont. — Healthy Trucker (a division of NAL Insurance) in partnership with Truck News, a Transportation Media publication, has announced they will be holding the second Healthy Fleet Challenge beginning September 1st and running the full month of September.

“Over 30 teams (300+ individuals) stepped it up as we achieved our goal of walking around the world as an industry in July.  It only took 23 Days…16 Hours….14 minutes…to walk over 25,000 miles promoting the importance of better health and wellness in the trucking industry,” said Glenn Caldwell, vice-president, sales at Healthy Trucker.

Now the goal is to walk even further – and enjoy more fun and exercise – during the full month of September.

“We want to step it up even further for this challenge and work extra hard during National Trucking Week (September 7 – 12, 2014). Doing so would show our support for all Drivers as we attempt to beat the distance record that we set in July,” said Caldwell.

“Walking is something everyone can participate in and is that first critically important step towards a healthier lifestyle,” added Lou Smyrlis, publisher and editorial director of Transportation Media. “We were extremely proud to be a part of the first initiative and are looking forward to having more fleets, associations and allied trades join us in September. The cooler temperatures coming in September make it an ideal month to get out and walk.”

Carriers, allied trades, and associations can set up a team by sending an email with their logo and team leaders name to info@healthyfleet.com.

Each team can register their members (O/O’s, drivers or employees) to participate in this event. To participate, team members will need to download this app to their iPhone or Android device, or purchase a Fitbit device, which will help track the steps participants take each day. Teams must have a minimum of 3 members to participate but there is no limit to the number of teammates for this event.

Feeling confident about your team? Participating teams are also encouraged to throw down a challenge to another fleet or suppler in the industry to join the Challenge. Companies or associations that refer another team to the Healthy Fleet Challenge will automatically be entered into a draw to win FitBit Flex devices. The Company or associations that refer the most new teams, will win 5 FitBits.
