SASKATOON, Sask. — Saskatchewan-based International Road Dynamics (IRD) continues to spread its roots throughout the U.S., and will beef up its presence in Illinois next.

IRD has been awarded contracts totaling $380,000 to implement its ramp pre-screening systems which utilize single load cell Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) technology.

The technology, which is gaining in popularity south of the border, weighs trucks while they pass by weigh stations, and directs only trucks with violations in for inspection.

The Canuck firm claims the system results in significant savings for trucking companies and improves the efficiency of truck enforcement. Nineteen states now use the technology, but it has yet to find a home in its native land of Canada.
