RED DEER, Alta. — Alberta Transportation Inspection Services (ATIS) is seeking law enforcement accreditation and calling on the public for comments at an information session Aug. 28.

Assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies will be in Red Deer from Aug. 25 to 29, to examine the activities of ATIS and ensure they meet industry standards.

The public information session requires people to call 310-0000, then 403-340-5081 for information or to provide input into the process.

This is a voluntary process to gain accreditation, which is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement excellence. Assessment officers will be on hand from as far away as Peel Region and Washington State to evaluate the agency.

Anyone else with information to submit about Inspection Services performance can write The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Suite 320, 10306 Eaton Place, Fairfax, VA, USA, 22030-2201.
