OTTAWA, Ont. — The CEO of Kriska Transportation, Mark Seymour, has been selected as the chairman of the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA).

Seymour has been on the CTA board of directors and executive committee for several years, most recently as the vice-chairman. He will be chairman of the CTA for a two-year term.

“I am a great believer in CTA and the provincial associations and encourage everyone in the industry to get involved and support the work of their associations,” said Seymour. “I can’t begin to tell you the benefits to my business and to me personally through our membership and participation. So many doors have been opened to me. I have been able to rub shoulders with the CEO’s of the best carriers not only from Canada and the United States, but from around the world. You can’t get that kind of experience and advice anywhere else.”

Seymour was a key contributor in the creation of the CTA Blue Ribbon Task Force on driver shortage. He is still the task force’s chairman, despite the demands of his new position. In addition, Seymour appears on panels dealing with shipper-carrier issues on a regular basis and he was the chairman of the Ontario Trucking Association from 2006-2008.
