FREDERICTON, N.B. — New Brunswick Premier Bernard Lord is establishing a special government office to help cut through the tangle of bureaucratic red tape he believes is stifling economic growth.

Lord tells local media he is establishing a Red Tape Reduction Office with a mandate to reduce government waste and inefficiency. His political critics, however, howled at the suggestion.

“I’m at a loss to understand how we can eliminate red tape by creating more government bureaucracy,” says Liberal Opposition leader Bernard Richard.
