Meritor makes senior executive appointments

TROY, Mich. — Drivetrain and braking parts manufacturer Meritor Inc. has made two new senior executive appointments.

Chris Villavarayan has been promoted to the position of president of the Americas with responsibilities for the company’s North and South America truck, defence and specialty businesses. Before the appointment, he served as vice-president of international operations. He holds an engineering degree from McMaster University.

Meritor also named Joe Plomin as president, International, Europe and Asia Pacific. At one time, Plomin, who has been with Meritor since 2007, was vice-president of the company’s truck Americas division.

“These appointments represent our strong bench of leadership talent within the company,” said Jay Craig, senior vice-president and president of commercial truck and industrial for Meritor. “Joe and Chris have an excellent understanding of our industry, combined with a strong manufacturing background and international business experience.”
