MTA announces retirement of executive director

WINNIPEG, Man.--  The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) announced Bob Dolyniuk’s retirement today. He was the organization’s executive director for 17 years.

WINNIPEG, Man.–  The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) announced Bob Dolyniuk’s retirement today. He was the organization’s executive director for 17 years.

Dolyniuk spent 43 years working in the trucking industry.  He was elected to the MTA board of directors and became president in 1994. In 1997 he joined the MTA as staff and eventually became executive director.

“The MTA of today has a strong board of directors and a knowledgeable and experienced staff that are unafraid to challenge and question one another in order to achieve the best outcomes for our members.  The MTA executive and staff have been managing this transition plan for many years.  After more than 43 years in this industry I am confident that now is the right time to step down and allow a new leader to take the reins,” said Dolyniuk.

The new executive director will be the MTA’s current general manager Terry Shaw.

“Including my time at the MTA I’ve worked in the trucking industry for almost 20 years.  As anyone familiar with our industry knows, the opportunities for learning are continuous.  I’ve learned much over the years but working with someone as knowledgeable as Bob has been a fantastic opportunity” said Shaw. “The weight the MTA name carries when we approach regulators on issues is a credit not only to the strength of our membership but also the reputation our association has for dealing honestly, fairly and intelligently. I’ve observed this directly while working alongside Bob and I am already using the lessons learned as I approach my dealings on behalf of our members.”

Having known and worked with Bob even prior to joining the MTA I can truly say that he was dedicated to the “health and welfare” of our industry and a great asset to Manitoba’s trucking industry. We will certainly miss his leadership and support. A well-earned retirement!
