MTA DOLES OUT THE HONORS AT CONVENTION

WINNIPEG, Man. — The Manitoba Trucking Association (MTA) handed out hardware to a number of worthy recipients for 2001 at its 69th annual convention.

Among the winners was Fred Smith Jr., formerly of Economy Truck Parts and now with Winn-Man Transport, who was named the Maxim Transportation Services Associate of the Year.

As well, Allan Penner, vice-president of Penner International and past president of the MTA, garnered the Trailmobile Service to Industry Award.

And finally, Remi Van Den Driessche, a driver with La Broquerie Transfer, was presented with the J.O. Dutton Memorial Award for his outstanding performance in the Canadian Professional Truck Driving Championships.
