HALIFAX, N.S. — Nova Scotia, the only province still charging tolls on the Trans-Canada Highway, is also the province relying the heaviest on federal transfers for funding.

According to federal Finance Department figures obtained by the National Post under the Access to Information Act, the provincial budget draws 43 per cent of its revenue from federal sources.

Nova Scotia edged out Newfoundland by one percentage point.
