Novacab presents new distribution plan for its heating and cooling systems
CANDIAC, Que. — Novacab announced its distribution plan for the USA and Canada yesterday.
The company will be distributing its thermal battery-based autonomous heating and cooling systems through three networks: Class A distributors (dealers selling trucks), Class B distributors (transport companies managing their own fleets) and Class C distributors (service centres for all independent brokers).
“We are in the process of entering into agreements with 10 distributors in Canada and the USA,” said president Stephane Bilodeau. “Our first US offices are preparing to open in California and Florida. In Canada, the penetration will be directed through our corporate offices in Candiac, Sorel and Sherbrooke.”
Novacab’s goal is having 25 distributors within the next two years. It hopes to have the distributors retrofit existing trucks and provide installation for the some 125,000 new Class A trucks built each year. The average cost of a unit is $10,000.
Novacab’s system allows vehicles to maintain electrical power (for heating and refrigeration) without the using an engine or generators. Novacab estimates that it provides a yearly fuel consumption reduction of 6,000-8,000 litres per truck.
Legislation forbidding idling truck engines has recently been passed in 22 states and five Canadian provinces.
