ARLINGTON, Va. — The Ontario Ministry of Transportation received an award from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators at a recent conference.

Ontario Ministry of Transportation won the Public Affairs and Community Education (PACE) Award in Category 6D – Display for its  Distraction Can Be Deadly display. The display served as a backdrop to invite drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians to chat about legislative requirements with Ministry representatives and promote safe and responsible road user behaviours at road safety events, conferences, and consumer trade shows.

AAMVA gives awards out to honour individuals and organizations who commit time and resources to safety initiatives and public affairs. It gives awards in service, safety, security and pubic affairs and consumer education categories.

“It is so important for DMVs and law enforcement agencies to receive recognition for the excellent work they do each and every day,” said AAMVA president and CEO Anne Ferro. “AAMVA’s members work tirelessly to ensure the public’s safety and security, and it is our pleasure to recognize their outstanding efforts.”
