Schneider lowers its cargo theft rates significantly

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Schneider has announced that it has posted a 20% decline in its truckload theft rate and that 2013 marks the seventh consecutive year of declining its cargo theft.

Schneider credits its success rate to its security methods which include: proactive communication with shipper, state of the art technology and disciplined standard operating procedures. Another attribution to the success is the company’s flexibility to move loads using driver teams that are less prone to theft.

“Ours is a three-prong approach: We address expectations during onboarding; we regularly communicate the locations and types of thefts that are occurring; and we incorporate cargo theft preventable measures into our quarterly training sessions,” said Walter Fountain, director of safety and enterprise security at Schneider.

“Schneider teaches you to do everything you can to keep people honest,” said Schneider Van-Truckload driver Jim Bosma in a release. “A lazy thief is just trying to get the easiest opportunity, so with these processes and technologies in place, we deter them from carrying out a theft.”
