Seaboard Transport celebrates 10 years of working with PeopleNet Canada

BURLINGTON, Ont. -- PeopleNet Canada and Seaboard Transport Group are celebrating a happy 10-year marriage, during Seaboard’s 50th year in business.

BURLINGTON, Ont. — PeopleNet Canada and Seaboard Transport Group are celebrating a happy 10-year marriage, during Seaboard’s 50th year in business.

“As our technology partner, PeopleNet Canada provides us tools that continue to help us manage our expansion – especially the recent increase in our fleet size over the past four years,” said Seaboard process improvement manager Craig Whittaker. “In addition to improving our day-to-day operations, the technology has helped us be more efficient and provide our customers safe, reliable, professional service. The open platform, third-party integrations, open interface, and reporting are exceptional. But at the end of the day, it’s about the people that create, deliver, and support the technology.”

Seaboard says its collaboration with PeopleNet has allowed it to eliminate labourious recordkeeping and administrative duties for drivers and back-office staff.

Some of the tools its using include: automated fuel tax reporting; electronic logs; automated workflow to streamline communication between drivers, dispatch and the back office by replacing cell phone calls with messaging; and GPS-based accident reconstruction.

PeopleNet also says Seaboard was the first in Canada to create electronic driver inspection reports and integrate them into maintenance processes.

And PeopleNet, through its Professional Services division, assigned a team of consultants to help Seaboard implement a fuel management program that resulted in an 8-10% improvement in mpg, the companies say.
