COLUMBUS, Ind. — Trailer orders were up 20% year-over-year in April, according to the latest report from ACT Research.

The industry analyst also indicated the October to April order season showed a 25% gain over the 2012-2013 season. The information was published in ACT’s most recent State of the Industry: US Trailers report. Most of the strength came in the dry van and reefer categories.

“April net orders of 26,390 rose 20% year over year,” said Frank Maly, director, CV transportation analysis and research at ACT. “Cancellation continued to be insignificant, pointing to firm orders in the backlog. And the backlog is up 30% from a year ago.”
