TRUCK ACCIDENT NABS RED-HANDED THEIF

CAYUGA, Ont. — An accident involving a tractor-trailer has led to the arrest of a Tillsonburg, Ont. man in connection with the theft of a pickup and the recover of a stolen tractor and several power tools.

Ontario Provincial Police reported to the accident at the intersection of Highways 3 and 56 near Cayuga, Ont. around 8 a.m. Thursday. An eastbound rig had been rear-ended by a Ford pickup pulling a trailer containing a Bobcat tractor. The 18-wheeler had slowed for a school bus picking up children.

The accident blocked Hwy 3. The pickup driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigating officers learned that the pickup had just been reported stolen from Tillsonburg Rent All. The Bobcat tractor had also just been reported stolen, from Norwich Livestock in Norwich.

Police also found in the truck several industrial power tools stolen from Norwich Livestock and TD Logan Plumbing in Tillsonburg.

The driver, a 37-year-old Tillsonburg man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, five counts of possession of stolen property worth more than $5000, and driving while under suspension.
