REGINA, Sask. — Trucker Dan Fraser was headed back to B.C. Sunday after delivering a load of furniture in Quebec when he was unexpectedly called upon for another delivery: A baby girl.

Fraser and his brother, Wayne, had just parked their truck at a gas station outside Regina Sunday when they heard some screams for help. When they approached the car the screams were coming from, they realized a woman was having a baby and her frantic husband was beginning to panic.

“We went over, I looked in the window and the baby’s head was right there,” Wayne recalls to local media. “The guy said ‘Get an ambulance, get an ambulance!'”

The couple, Sean and Cindy Boutin, were on their way to the hospital in Regina when it became clear they wouldn’t make it in time.

Wayne got on the phone with paramedics and relayed their instructions to the frantic couple, but the baby wasn’t breathing when it was born.

“They said ‘Put your arms on his shoulders and flip him around, stick your fingers in his mouth and clear the mucus out of his throat.’ I was telling the father to do this and he was doing that, and then the baby started crying,” says Wayne.

The baby and mother were doing fine in hospital later that day, and Cindy and Sean met the Good Samaritans later.

Both Wayne, who works for Weyerhaeuser in Port Albeni, B.C. and brother Dan, who hauls furniture for Allied Van Lines say it is all in a days work.

“We had just finished delivering furniture in Quebec. I never thought we’d make this kind of delivery in Regina,” admits Dan.
