Walmart Canada announces aggressive expansion plans

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Carriers serving Walmart Canada will have a lot more freight to haul in the coming years, thanks to the addition of 37 new supercentre stores to be opened up before Jan. 31, 2014.

The company also announced today that it will expand its distribution network to support ongoing store growth and expansion plans. The total investment comes to more than $450 million. As part of its growth, Walmart will be opening the first of its supercentres in the Maritimes. Details on the location of specific stores and distribution centres have not yet been released.
