CALGARY, Alta. – Truck West, the sister publication to Truck News and Fleet Executive, will be unveiling a bold new look with its next issue.

The new look emphasizes the magazine’s independent spirit as well as its family ties to our multi-media information sources.

“Trucking in Western Canada is bold, independent and dynamic and we wanted the Truck West readers hold in their hands every month to reflect that,” said editorial director Lou Smyrlis. “As participants in this dynamic and fast changing industry Truck West readers also need access to timely, meaningful and in depth information about industry trends and issues in order to make the most informed decisions about their operations. And we want to provide them with a news source that makes it easy to access such information.”

As Truck West readers work their way through their February issue, they will note many design changes orchestrated by creative artist Roy Gaiot — from the cover page, which includes a redesigned logo and teasers providing an easy way to discover what’s inside the current issue, to the last page where editor Jim Bray gets to write about the many important happenings in the Western Canada trucking community. There is a more powerful design for features, with more prominent display type to help readers quickly decide whether a particular feature is right for them and the more prominent display of insights on industry issues in Western Perspectives. There is also a more consistent look for our columnists and more effective use of color and font size to make certain stories stand out better in the departments such as OEM/Dealer News.

“But our commitment goes beyond providing a fresh look. We publish Truck West because we strongly believe Western Canada deserves its own publication. And what you can expect in this and every issue to come is an even greater focus on issues important to Western Canada carriers, owner/operators and suppliers,” said executive editor James Menzies, who began his career working on Truck West from our Calgary office.

As mentioned, Truck West is part of a multi-media family, which includes Truck News, Fleet Executive, Canadian Transportation & Logistics, two websites, our award-winning TMTV Web TV show, several e-newsletters, a service provider directory, our Surface Transportation Summit, and a research division that undertakes multiple Canadian transportation-related research projects each and every year. In short, we have a great deal of information to share with you about this industry and the new design will make it easier for Truck West readers to find out about it and access it.
