BURNABY, B.C. – STS, a provider of underground utility location services, has chosen the Quadrant System from WebTech Wireless to reduce fleet operation costs and increase response times to their customer base.

Quadrant is a locator device for GSM/GPRS networks that has been commercially available since 2001. It provides vehicle-based data service capabilities that include”: GPS location services, Internet, telemetry alerts (equipment on/off and panic alerts), J1708 Databus, messaging, maintenance alerts and hands-free voice.

Headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz., STS operates a fleet of 800 plus trucks throughout a 17-state area, which it uses to conduct on-site inspections for underground utilities.
The company uses Quadrant, from Web Tech (and AT&T Wireless), to report when vehicles are turned on and off and their location. According to WebTech officials, an analysis of the combination of the vehicle data can save the company at least 15-30 minutes of idling time per day, and thousands of dollars per week.
