Panel to discuss mentoring during Trucking HR Canada’s Driver Connect and Share event

by Truck News

OTTAWA, Ont. – A panel discussion on mentorship will be a focus of Trucking HR Canada’s inaugural Driver Connect and Share event.

Being held Nov. 12 at the Sandman Signature Hotel in Toronto, Ont. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the event will be monitored by Trucker Radio’s Stan Campbell, with opening remarks from Highway Star of the Year Joanne Millen-Mackenzie of Highland Transport.

Five new panelists have been added to the discussion: Bill Dejong, a driver and mentor from J.G. Drapeau, who has been behind the wheel for 21 years; Lorraine Lewis, a recent graduate, driver and mentee at J.G. Drapeau; Michele Joslin, a commercial driver trainer for more than 10 years from Humber College; heavy-haul driver and mentor from LCG Equipment, David Henry, with over 30 in the trucking industry; and Shelley Uvanile-Hesch, a commercial driver and mentor from Sharp Transportation Systems, who also recently set up the Women’s Trucking Federation of Canada to support women in the industry.

“This panel is a direct response to feedback we continue to receive that drivers want something specific to their day-to-day concerns,”says Angela Splinter, CEO of Trucking HR Canada. “Delegates wanted to learn more from drivers; we are delivering on content attendees want to see.”
