EDMONTON, Alta. – After a third successful Edmonton, Alta. auction this week, Richie Bros. Auctioneers has sold a record $451 million worth of trucks and equipment in the province’s capitol city, a 14% increase from the same period last year.

The June 14-16 auction attracted over 8,400 people and garnered $91 million in sales, with more than 81% of the equipment sold going to Canadian buyers, including 55% to Albertans.

“With our third auction of the year we continue to see record amounts of equipment coming to our Edmonton site, showcasing the trust Albertans have in our ability to deliver results, even during a slowdown,” said Brian Glenn, senior vice-president of Ritchie Bros. “We saw a considerable amount of participation online this week from across Canada and around the world. While increasing US participation in Canadian auctions is certainly helping us achieve solid returns for local Alberta sellers, it’s important to note that Canadians continue to be the strongest buyers at our Edmonton auctions, with particularly high participation from B.C. and Saskatchewan.”

Over 7,700 items were sold at the latest Edmonton auction, bringing the total from the three auctions to more than 25,200.

Ritchie Bros. plans to hold three additional auctions in Edmonton this year, with the next scheduled for Sept. 7-9.
