Bison to test-drive Bose Ride System driver’s seat

WINNIPEG, Man. — Bison Transport will be testing the Bose Ride System driver’s seat as part of a comprehensive study on driver health and wellness.

Bison is the only Canadian fleet taking part in the study, along with several major US fleets. The study is to begin in April and run for nine months.

“The goal of the study is to learn more about the impact that reduced vibration has on the overall health and wellness of drivers, who are exposed to excessive levels of bouncing, jarring and shaking while driving – also known as whole body vibration,” Bison said in a release.

The Bose Ride system replaces the conventional air-ride truck seat with a Bose suspension base and integrated custom-designed seat top. It is purported to provide drivers with protection against road-induced shocks and vibration.

The seat is significantly higher than traditional truck seats, which is why the system is going to be studied and evaluated by major fleets so they can better understand the true costs and benefits of the technology, Bison explained. Fleets will be looking to see if there’s a positive impact on driver’s overall health and wellness, as well as driver satisfaction and retention.

As part of the study, Bose will be visiting Bison’s Mississauga, Winnipeg and Calgary terminals to demonstrate the seat.

  • we have some interest in that seat as well, why is it Bison seems to be the only one ever asked to participate?

  • I have had an idea for a driver,s seat for a long time but prototypes cost a lot of money, any new comfortable seats will be a welcome in the industry i wish i could try my idea,
