Meritor CEO predicts more electrification
ATLANTA, GA -- "There is a sea change in our industry with regard to electrification of the drivetrain," said Jay Craig, CEO of Meritor, at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show. The actual percentage of medium- and heavy-duty vehicles that will be fully electric or hybrid electric by 2025, he said, is not as important as the surety that the number will be more than it is today.

The Downspeeding Decision: Can it work with Canadian spec’s?
Spec'ing powertrains for Canadian operations is a tricky job. Americans take their powertrain spec's pretty seriously as well, but how tough is it to get something that will move 80,000-pound loads on interstate highways? To be fair, our southern neighbors are always pushing the proverbial envelope, but tricky takes on a whole new meaning when it comes to downspeeding.

Volvo’s Adaptive Gearing
Volvo Trucks has put a new spin on an old powertrain management strategy; by locking out top gear on its I-Shift overdrive transmission, drivers can pull loads efficiently in 11th gear (direct drive) and still get the performance they want. When running empty, sensors in the transmission and the suspension sense the lower weight and unlock 12th gear, which is overdrive. The truck can cruise home in at a very low engine speed at a higher road speed. This video explains how Adaptive Gearing works and features more excerpts from an interview with Gene Brice, co-owner of Idaho Milk Transport. Adaptive Gearing is ideally suited to tank fleets that run about half their miles empty, and when you hear Brice's fuel economy with this system, you'll be asking if it can work for you too. SCR: The Smart Choice
Detroit engineers are using our BlueTec® SCR emissions technology to reduce emissions and improve fuel economy. We recently achieved greenhouse gas 2014 (GHG14) regulations, a full year ahead of the mandate for certification by The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Transportation's Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) first-ever program to reduce heavy and medium-duty truck greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Maverick Transportation Demands It All
Maverick Transportation demands a competitive edge with the Detroit Diesel DD15 featuring BlueTec SCR emissions technology. With fuel efficiency gains with 3%+ improvement, the Maverick drivers tackle their regular routes east of the Rockies with easy fueling and cold weather climate.
