Bradley, drivers honored during OTA gala

TORONTO, ON - The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) honored leading drivers and its Chief Executive Officer during emotional presentations at the group's annual convention on Thursday night. A tearful Bradley, who retires from his executive role at the end of 2017, was clearly shocked when presented the annual OTA/Shaw Tracking Service to Industry Award. "I picked this year's winner and it wasn't supposed to be me," Bradley said with a laugh, after an emotional video retrospective. Family members and past chairmen representing several decades of association work joined him on stage in the surprise tribute.

Laskowski to lead Canadian Trucking Alliance

VANCOUVER, BC - Stephen Laskowski will lead the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) as president and Chief Executive Officer when David Bradley retires from the positions on January 1, 2018. Laskowski, who was recently named Bradley's successor at the Ontario Trucking Association, is currently CTA's senior vice president and second in command. "It's a great honor to represent this industry and do it on a national basis," he told a room full of CTA board members in Vancouver, after being named to the role. "I love this industry. The CTA staff and I are very privileged to represent you. Moving forward, the staff and I are eager to work together as an alliance, with the provincial associations, and with each provincial board to represent carriers from coast to coast."

OTA Helps Toronto Truckers Avoid “Pan-Am-Monium”

TORONTO - Pan Am traffic tie-ups are already starting, but on Friday the Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) hosted a gathering of carriers, Ministry of Transportation (MTO) officials and other parties to craft a plan to minimize Pan Am traffic woes. The Pan Am Games run from July 10 to the 26 and and Parapan Games are from August 7 to 15. Starting this week and for the duration of the games, the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is looking at road closures; signal-timing modification; parking and stopping restrictions; turning restrictions; conversion of roads to one-way operations, police-managed traffic control points; and the increase or transfer to carpool lanes on many (GTA) highways.
