Newcom, JGK Media partner to bring South Asian community to Truck World

TORONTO, Ont. — Newcom Business Media and JGK Media are pleased to announce a strategic partnership aimed at bringing members of the South Asian community to this year’s Truck World show that is set for April 12-14 at the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont.

JGK Media is the parent company of Desi Trucking magazine. Newcom is the owner of Truck World, while also publishing Today’s Trucking, Truck News, Truck West, Transport Routier, and Truck & Trailer magazines.

“Growing ethnic communities are an important part of the trucking industry and it’s time to make a better effort at bringing the whole industry together under one roof,” said Joe Glionna, vice-president of Newcom. “Recent efforts made by the Ontario Trucking Association to reach out to South Asian  leaders have started bridging the gap between a perceived two industries. I am happy to continue this by working with the team at Desi Trucking magazine to encourage their followers to take part in Canada’s National Truck Show.”

Desi Trucking magazine will be the official South Asian partner and will have a specific attendance marketing role.

“We will be arranging a pre-truck show dinner with the South Asian trucking community leaders where the Truck World team will have the opportunity to directly speak with them and have an open discussion,” said Ron Dhaliwal, managing director, JGK Media.

“Investments in advertising and communication will be made to ensure our local community knows about Truck World but also understands the commitment Newcom is making,” added Jag Dhatt, Senior VP at JGK.

For Newcom and Desi Trucking magazine, the agreement includes marketing responsibilities through the 2018 show as well as a strategic alliance in other events, not only in Toronto but also nationally.

“We are going to focus on Truck World 2016 first but this is by no means a one-shot deal. We believe in the future of ONE industry and doing it right will take time,” said Glionna.
