TORONTO, Ont. — TransCore’s Canadian Freight Index recorded its highest volume of loads since May, 2008.

Spot market freight availability is up 73% year-over-year and the May index was 22 points higher than the previous month, TransCore reports.

Cross-border postings have increased 82% year-over-year. The index also shows signs of tightening capacity, with truck postings down 14% in May.

TransCore’s Canadian Freight Index is derived from the more than 12 million loads and trucks posted by intermediaries and carriers each year on the Loadlink freight-matching network.
