BLUMENORT, Man. — Steve’s Livestock Transport has announced an acquisition of Funk’s Livestock Transport.

Steve’s claims to be North America’s largest commercial livestock transporter, even before the acquisition. Funk will operate as part of Steve’s Livestock Transport out of its Blumenort, Man. facility, Portage Online reports.

“It’s been a challenging last few years for the livestock and transport industry, and certainly we haven’t been immune to that,” Bill Rempel, director of marketing and projects with Steve’s told Portage Online. “Both companies looked for opportunities and efficiencies but at the end of the day we found it necessary to merge the two companies together.”

The two companies collectively move the majority of the hogs produced in Manitoba.

  • We are rescueing a Haflinger mare from PA, or should I say I want to rescue her, but need to find a hauler/shipper that is willing to donate at least partial payment (the equine rescue can provide a receipt from 501c(3)) for your taxes. This would look great on your profile that x amount of profits go toward charitable hauling to rescue horses! let me know if your “new” company might be interested in helping us out? need to be hauled ASAP today is 10/11/11
