PORTLAND, Ore. — The city of Brecksville, Ohio, a suburb outside of Cleveland, won the 2005 Win a Year’s Lease on a Unimog promotion when Robert Pech’s name was drawn at the conclusion of the promotion.

“I was excited to receive the call notifying me that our city would be the recipient of this great opportunity,” said Pech, director of public service for Brecksville. “I have already contacted fellow city service directors offering them demo opportunities when the Unimog is delivered.”

Along with the use of the Unimog U500, Pech also won the use of up to three implements that will serve Brecksville in a multitude of services including snow plowing, snow blowing, salt spreading, roadside mowing and street sweeping for twelve consecutive months following delivery.

The promotion kicked off in early 2005 and more than 1,000 entries were submitted for the promotion. Tom Fenzl, regional sales manager for Unimog, will be on-site in Brecksville to work with Pech to get the Unimog up and running, equipped with the right
attachments for each assignment.

“We are anxious to put the Unimog to work for the City of Brecksville and have the product’s versatility and cost savings showcased on the job,” said Bob McTernan, general manager for Unimog North America. “I think Mr. Pech and his staff will be impressed by the performance capabilities of the U500 and pleased with the results this vehicle will deliver.”

  • Will Mercedes / Freightliner ever consider bring back the Unimog? Every where I drive our U500 people want one, especially for snow removal.
