TTSAO re-elects Lagrois as president, names new board

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- Yvette Lagrois, president of Ontario Truck Training Academy has been re-elected as president of the Truck Training Schools Association of Ontario (TTSAO) for a third term.

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Yvette Lagrois, president of Ontario Truck Training Academy has been re-elected as president of the Truck Training Schools Association of Ontario (TTSAO) for a third term.

She says it will be her final term serving in this capacity.

“I believe there has been much accomplished during my term as president and I am excited with the announcement of our new Board of Directors,” she said upon her re-election. “We collectively have many years of experience running some of the finest institutions in our industry.”

TTSAO is the voice for Ontario’s commercial driving schools. Members must offer a 200-hour training program that meets Ministry of Training, Colleges and University (MTCU) standards.

TTSAO has recently lobbied the province to pursue third-party testing for member schools.

“It is a natural fit for the industry. Let’s face it, trucking companies know how to move freight. Truck training schools, at least the membered schools of the TTSAO, know how to educate entry-level drivers,” Lagrois said. “We have had signing authority for a number of years for the air brake endorsement and our track record is very good. Having a third party conduct road tests for Commercial Drivers makes good business sense for both government and industry.”

Serving on the board for the 2014-2016 term are: vice-President Robert Barclay (Crossroads Training Academy); treasurer Colin Matthews; secretary Jay Pootha (Jays Professional Truck Training).

Directors include: Jim Campbell (Ontario Truck Driving School); Kim Richardson (Kim Richardson Transportation Specialists); Rick Geller (Old Republic Insurance)’ Dwight Nelson (Commercial Heavy Equipment Training); and Kevin Pattison (Northern Academy of Transportation Training).
