Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Street Crimes Unit and front line officers charged seventeen people and seized eight firearms after responding to the sound of gunshots.

On Saturday, January 1, 2022, at approximately 5:49 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers received a call for the sound of gunshots at a rural property in Melancthon Township. When officers arrived on scene they heard the sound of gunshots coming from a large  field on County Road 17. Officers entered the property and located several people.

As a result of the investigation, seventeen people have been charged with a total of twenty-eight firearm related offences and seized eight firearms.

Jaskaran LEGHA, 22-year-old from London has been charged with:

Harnoor SANDHU, 23-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

Pranav SHARMA, 24-year-old from Brampton has been charged with

Abhikaran SINGH, 26-year-old from Montreal has been charged with:

Ajaybir SINGH, 23-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

Baljinder SINGH, 27-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

Gurkirat SINGH, 26-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

• Unauthorized possession of Firearm
• Knowledge of unauthorized possession of Firearm

Gursharanjit SINGH, 27-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

Karanpreet SINGH, 25-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

• Carless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device of ammunition
• Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted Firearm
• Knowledge of unauthorized possession of Firearm
• Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there is a prohibited or restricted weapon
• Possession of prohibited or restricted Firearm with ammunition

Kulvinder SINGH, 30-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

• Carless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device of ammunition

Mandeep SINGH, 26-year-old from Calgary, Alberta has been charged with:

• Carless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device of ammunition

Parvinder SINGH, 25-year-old from Brampton has been charged with:

• Carless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device of ammunition

Savdeepraj SINGH, 49-year-old from Cambridge has been charged with:

• Carless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device of ammunition

Virinder TOOR, 23-year-old from London has been charged with:

• Carless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device of ammunition

There is one person outstanding to be arrested and charged accordingly.

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville, at a later date in March, 2022, to answer to the charges.
