Bison wins TCA safety award – again

WINNIPEG — Bison Transport has once again placed first in the 100-plus million mile category with the lowest DOT reportable accident rate at the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) National Fleet Safety Awards.

It’s the fifth straight year the Winnipeg-based carrier has won the title.

The awards recognize trucking companies that demonstrate a superior commitment to safety and accident reduction.

How safe is Bison? Well, not only does it clean up at this North America-wide contest, but it also recently honored its sixth driver to achieve 2 million consecutive accident-free miles.

Laird Copeland, has been with Bison since 1996 and says the key to his success is simple, "take precautions, observe all possibilities of danger and avoid them."

"Safety is a top priority at Bison Transport and it is with professional drivers like Laird that Bison has been (honored) by the Truckload Carriers Association for the fifth consecutive year."

Laird will be formally recognized at Bison Transport’s annual awards banquet held in Calgary on January 14.
