Manitoba Crowns Driving Champs

WINNIPEG, Man. – The Manitoba Professional Truck Driving Championships were held May 29 with a full field of drivers competing in six different classes.

The winners included: John Klassen, Reimer Express Lines, Step Van Class; Peter Schlichter, Reimer Express, Straight Truck (two-axle) Class; Gary Good, Reimer Express, Single/Single Class; Remi Van Den Driessche, LaBroquerie Transfer, Single/Tandem Class; Trevor Mulder, Reimer Express, Tandem/Tandem; and Ken Wiebe, Ram Messenger, Super-B Class.

Also receiving awards were: Reimer Express Lines Team 2 consisting of John Nowak, Klassen, Good, Rob Trager, Mulder and Glen Babcock.

They won the Best Team Award.

The First Time Entrant Award was presented to Schlichter of Reimer Express.

The Hal Bjornson Memorial Award for highest score also went to Schlichter, and he also took home top honours as Grand Champion.

The winners will compete at the National Professional Truck Driving Championships held in Lethbridge, Alta. between Sept. 16-18.
