Next Healthy Fleet Challenge set for May

TORONTO, Ont. — The first Healthy Fleet Challenge of 2016 has been scheduled.

This year’s Healthy Fleet Challenge, that invites members within the trucking industry to compete to see who can walk the most during the competition period, spans five months. The Challenge begins on May 1, 2016 and ends September 30 with break months in between (June and August).

“We see some incredible levels of commitment, and we have found that running a 3-month continuous challenge can be exhausting for participants,” said Glenn Caldwell, vice-president of sales at Healthy Trucker. “Allowing people to recharge means they will be able to bring their A-game throughout the entire challenge, rather than burning out halfway through.”

Each competitor will track their steps using Fitbit or the MOVES application on their iPhone or Android device. Every step they take will be fed through to the online Healthy Fleet leaderboard so participants can keep an eye on the competition. The team with the most steps at the end of the challenge is crowned the winner.

Healthy Fleet is also working with American Trucking Associations for the event.

“ATA is dedicated to promoting health in the trucking industry and our work with Healthy Fleet is evidence of that commitment,” said ATA president and CEO Bill Graves. “We are working together to encourage drivers and all industry professionals to form healthier eating habits, get more exercise, and be proactive about mental health concerns.”

Carriers, associations and allied trades can form a team by sending their information to info@healthytrucker.com.
