CLEVELAND, Ohio — Eaton Corporation’s Thomas O’Boyle, senior vice-president and group executive for the company’s Truck Group, will retire on June 30.

The company has also decided that he will be replaced by James Sweetnam, effective the following day. Sweetnam will assume O’Boyle’s corporate-wide responsibility for Eaton’s operations in South America and for the Eaton Quality Institute and the Eaton Business Excellence program.

“Tom O’Boyle has provided distinguished service to the company for 34 years,” says chairman and chief executive officer Alexander Cutler. “His leadership and wise counsel will be missed. Under his leadership, Eaton’s Truck business has continued to increase market share, introduce innovative products and maintain outstanding relationships with our customers around the world.”

Sweetnam has been vice-president of the firm’s Heavy-Duty Transmission, Clutch and Aftermarket Operations of Eaton’s Truck Group since January 2000.
