MADISON, Ind. — Light and wiring-system maker Grote Industries is marking 100 years as a successfully run family business.

“That’s an accomplishment not many other companies can claim,” says president and chief executive officer William “Bill” Grote III. He adds, “that’s an accomplishment not many other companies can claim.”

Grote first pioneered a plastic injection molding in the early 1920’s, and by the 1960’s had graduated to making nonmetallic lamps for clearance markers.

It developed one of the market’s first Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps in the early 1990’s.
