Kenworth debuts new L770, L770E refuse trucks
Kenworth added two new refuse trucks to its lineup, which were publicly shown for the first time at Waste Expo.
The Class 8 low-cab forward L770 and its electric variant, the L770E are the truck maker’s first vocational low-cab forward offerings. They’re available for order and delivery in Canada and the U.S. immediately.

“The introduction of our new L770 and battery-electric L770E expands Kenworth’s vocational lineup with purpose-driven solutions for demanding urban applications like commercial and residential waste management,” said Kevin Haygood, Kenworth’s assistant general manager for sales and marketing. “Whether a fleet is focused on enhancing its diesel or CNG capabilities, or taking the first step toward zero-emissions, Kenworth now offers tailored options to meet the needs of our customers operating in these specialized industries.”
Features include a corrosion-resistant galvanized steel cab frame with aluminum panels and 90-degree door opening. It will be available in left- and right-hand drive, dual-seated drive and dual drive with right-hand standup configurations.
The electrical architecture is borrowed from Kenworth’s other heavy-duty vocational models like the T880.
Powertrain offerings include the Paccar MX-11 (up to 445 hp/1,700 lb.-ft.) and PX-9 (up to 380 hp/1,250 lb.-ft.). It can also be spec’d with the Cummins X15N and ISX12N natural gas engines, as well as the Cummins L9N.
The L770E electric variant is powered by a Meritor eAxle powertrain and 350 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery system, capable of up to 1,100 automated side loader bin cycles or 130 rear loader compactor cycles per charge.
The truck has up to 120 miles (192 km) of range and can be charged in about 3.5 hours at 125 kW, Kenworth claims. High- and low-voltage ePTO ports can be factory installed to expand body upfit possibilities.
