The Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Services Unit conducted a two-day commercial vehicle blitz June 25-26, along with other enforcement agencies in the province.

They inspected more than 280 commercial vehicles, placing 90 out of service. A total of 188 charges were laid and 100 warnings issued, organizers say.

Eight sets of plates were pulled and two three-day suspensions were handed out for the presence of drugs or alcohol.

Other agencies involved include the OPP, Peel Regional Police, Guelph Police, Halton Regional Police, Ontario Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Finance.

  • THIS IS INCREDIBLE — SO AWESOME TO SEE ACTION BEING TAKEN ON THE UNSAFE VEHICLES ON THE ROADS —

THIS SHOULD BE A RECOMENDATION TO ALL POLICE FORCES TO UTILIZE THEIR TEAM TO CONDUCT BLITZ LIKE THIS
THIS IS FAR MORE HELPFUL THAN HAVING THE LIGHTS FLASHING ON THE 407 WIEGHT SCALE AT 9PM ON A SUNDAY NIGHT

VERY HAPPY TO SEE THIS BEING DONE IN WATERLOO — COULD YOU IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOU SENT THE INSPECTORS TO BRAMPTON & CALEDON & CENTRAL MISSISAUGA ??!!….ONTARIO ROADS WOULD BE SAFER BY THE MINUTE….

The Ontario team is a mobile group of inspectors that do indeed travel. They frequently work in Caledon now, as well as Dufferin County, Wellington County and lots of other locations.

This is in addition to the regular MTO and qualified police officers assigned to these regions.
