Jade Transport’s Steendam wins best tractor prize at Shell Rotella SuperRigs
Jade Transport driver Jayden Steendam’s yellow 2013 Peterbilt caught the judges’ attention and won the first place in the tractor division at Shell Rotella SuperRigs.
“It’s awesome,” is how the 23-year-old rookie contestant from Winnipeg described his success at the event held at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia.
Steendam keeps his ride immaculate by working on it and cleaning it whenever he gets the opportunity. He even cleans it on his day off, his wife McKenna told trucknews.com.

Julie Wright, Shell Rotella brand manager, said that it was cool to see the next generation of truck drivers at the event. She added that drivers form relationships and it feels like a family reunion.
“This is our 43rd year and it reiterates our commitment to this industry and to the trucking community. We understand their lifestyle and want to celebrate them,” she added.
Judge Jami Jones noted that it was a standout group of trucks this year and it was a challenge to judge them. She added there was a consistent level of excellence.

Judge Mike Gaffin, also know as The Boston Trucker, hailed the camaraderie among the drivers. He said that even if they don’t win, they are making friends in the community.
He added that he had a hard time judging the big rigs as they were all clean and shiny and had special themes. “A lot of them are within one or two points of each other,” he added.
Kenny Ziglar II captured best of show honors with his 2007 Peterbilt 379. The truck also won second place in the best lights category.
