BeyondTrucks launches smart fuel card management system
BeyondTrucks has launched a smart fuel card management feature, designed to streamline fuel payments and reduce unauthorized transactions for trucking fleets. Announced at the annual Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) convention in Arizona, the new tool integrates with EFS fuel cards, allowing for automated activation and deactivation based on fleet-defined triggers.
The feature enables dispatchers to define logic for fuel card activation based on real-time data, said Hans Galland, CEO of BeyondTrucks, to reporters during the press conference in Phoenix on March 17. “It can ultimately be powered by AI recommendations on whether the fuel card should be or not be activated.”

The smart fuel card management module gives fleets control over fuel payments, allowing dispatchers to set up automated activation and deactivation rules. Fuel cards can be limited to active assignments, reducing unauthorized transactions. The system also enables real-time fund distribution, allowing fleets to send money codes instantly for lumper fees, repairs, and accommodations.
BeyondTrucks integrates these features directly into its TMS, ensuring that advances are logged and factored into payroll and expense reconciliation. While fleets can use simple rule-based automation, AI can provide additional insights to optimize decision-making. “It results in less brain power absorbed by trivial decisions of the dispatcher, but it also results in a reduction of fuel theft or abuse of cards,” Galland said.
