Ontario shuts down Peel Driving School
A Brampton driving school has been permanently closed by the province of Ontario, Ministry of Transportation spokeswoman Dakota Brasier confirmed to trucknews.com.
Local media first reported the closure of Peel Driving School locations in Brampton and Guelph, Ont. Both are listed on the MTO’s list of revoked driving schools.
The Brampton address was shared with Peel Truck Driving School, but MTO doesn’t oversee the operations of truck driving schools. The Ministry of Colleges and Universities is responsible for trucking schools.

“The Ontario government has zero tolerance for bad actors on our roads and in our driver’s licensing and training systems. That’s why we’re protecting Ontario by reviewing and improving driver education, training, and licensing,” Brasier said in a statement provided to trucknews.com.
The Truck Training Schools Association of Ontario (TTSAO) quickly announced Peel Truck Driving School is no longer a member.
“Peel Truck Driving School is no longer a member of TTSAO. This development reflects the current challenges facing truck training, with many schools potentially at risk in this environment,” TTSAO president Philip Fletcher posted on LinkedIn.
— This story was updated to reflect the fact the truck driving school was not shut down by MTO, which only oversees passenger driver training program operators

“Zero tolerance” eh government? You’ve been asleep at the wheel for YEARS. Enforce all regulations FASTER!
If we were really concerned about Safety, any individual that received a license from these “Revoked Driving Training ” establishments should have their licensed suspended until a retest has been completed by a recognized establishment.

The drivers don’t get their license from the school. Drive test still does the exams. Except for accredited institutions like Humber college as far as I know

True Don’t matter were you learn to drive all you gotta do is pass the MTO privately run driver test centre test. As you can see how they’re set up in strip malls and dirty, over crowded.Long lines to get in. I am sure more than the schools are corrupt. I guess it starts at the top.

I agree 100%
Keep it going! This is ground zero for safety, more important than any inspections on the road as this is where infractions are caught or taught. Every school should be highly monitored and structured to meet every requirement and more. Curious if TTSAO has any member requirements to meet expectations or if it’s just a club.

I TOTALLY AGREE. TOO MANY REALLY BAD TRUCK DRIVER’S ON OUR HWYS. THAT DO NOT HAVE A CLUE HOW TO DRIVE.

TTSAO is basically a club. It makes money from selling z endorsements and peddles various courses du jour.
Noting the MTO’s list of revoked driving schools and then focusing in on the truck driving school lacks accuracy and transparency.
The MTO’s “Government-Approved Driving Schools” and likewise the list of revoked schools is specifically for Class G license training (cars). Commercial driving schools are not under the MTO, they are under the MCU … UNLESS the driving school offers both CAR and TRUCK training and programs. Many schools do this, they will have two schools in one, with similar names. Therefore, they will be visible in the MTO lists as well as PCC lists.
The point of this is to say, we don’t actually know WHY they were shut down. Was it their car training or truck training. If it is flagged in the MTO side then it was something to do with the Class G training would, I assume. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense.
Then again, the fact that commercial driving schools are not under MTO makes even worse sense.
There’s many more of these fly by night ” schools”
that need to be closed! They are putting undertrained and dangerous “drivers” on our roads.
The same people time after time in Ontario including the Transportation Minister?
Keep it going MCU and MTO. – there are about another 50-100 schools that need to be seriously looked at!
This is just the tip of the iceberg.

It’s so true! The police do anything! They need to pull trucks over and do full checks
So another TTSAO school gets busted (like TTSAO Smart Truck Driving School on marketplace last year). Looks like a lot of bad actors are TTSAO members.
Another TTSAO school ?? The MTO knows where to look first when they start their oversight audits. So much for higher Standards
It is nice to see that someone is finally cracking down on the TTSAO schools!
These truck driving crooked schools have been there for years! There are regular delivery companies that have illegal paper licence plates, that was reported and no news on the company being closed down. So many illegal drivers and schools
I think it is about time that the MTO put truck driving schools out of business. This should be regulated by the Colleges. Ontario citizens deserve to have safe drivers on the road that are professionally trained.
Well done. Should have been done long time back.
Time to take the drivers off the road who have taken training from these schools.
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
I’m sure they’ll be back in business within a week or so under a different name and nothing changes.
Only closing won’t work. You have to track all those drivers who went through this school and re-test all of them again.
MTO should revoke all the freedumb convoy idiots that illegally used their haulers to block traffic and terrorize residents.
Anyone who graduated from here should be retested from scratch and lose their cdl until reassessment
About time! Finally? All past drivers licensed by this group should be retested and removed from Hyway 11 ! Sandals should also be banned during winter conditions as it is unsafe ? Make Ontario hyways safe for everyone! Too many people have died from these dangerous drivers, causing long road closures every winters! Enough is enough! Englis test should also prevail? How can you read signage properly if you can’t read English!
This 4 yrs too late should retest all those truck bus drivers that went to that school. This has been a open secret.
