U.S. trucker busted inadvertently taking gun to Canadian border

A 62-year-old American truck driver got himself into trouble when he took a wrong turn and crossed the Canadian border with a firearm.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers said he was a prior felon and was attempting to travel to Michigan with a commercial shipment when his GPS device inadvertently sent him to the Canadian border.

The trucker was denied entry and returned to the U.S. when he declared possession of a firearm. During secondary inspection he was found with a 9-mm pistol and 40 rounds of ammo.

The driver was not permitted to possess the firearm due to previous felony convictions.

“Our CBP Officers maintain their vigilance while screening travelers entering the United States,” said Area Port Director Gaetano Cordone. “Together with our state and local partners, we were successful in arresting this felon and removing a firearm off our streets.”

  • In my opinion Canada strict gun control laws have done very little to reduce crime in places like Brampton Toronto or Vancouver
If a person is not a convicted felon I think should be able to carry a gun across the border if a female and carry pepper spray
