Eaton introduces 48-volt catalyst heater

Eaton’s eMobility business has come out with a 48-volt programmable power electronics control unit for electrically heated catalysts.

The control unit rapidly heats up the exhaust aftertreatment catalyst, Eaton claims, keeping it warm during low engine load operation. The launch was in response to increased challenges facing commercial vehicle manufacturers when it comes to controlling NOx.

The air-cooled electric catalyst heater controller is part of Eaton’s 48-volt electrical system portfolio, which aims to help manufacturers integrate 48-volt architectures into next-generation vehicles.
