A Trucking Career Panel and Expo was held at triOS College in Brampton on February 12th. The panel discussion featured representatives of local transport companies like Kriska, SGT, TST Truckload Express and Don Anderson Haulage.  Panelists discussed the state of the industry, hiring trends, salaries, benefits, signing bonuses and apprenticeships their companies offer.

Brampton employers and the trucking industry at large are facing a fundamental challenge in finding qualified truck drivers to fill key positions. Strategies were discussed on how the right training can lead to better employment opportunities and solve the shortage of truck drivers.

One of triOS’ newest programs, Professional Transport Operator is an advanced program that combines Supply Chain and Logistics education with hands-on Tractor-Trailer operations, delivered in partnership with the Ontario Truck Training Academy (OTTA).  This program is ideal for graduates that want a career that takes them beyond Tractor-Trailer driving in the future.  In only 40 weeks graduates will have the competitive edge to apply for some of the top jobs in the sector.
