Connecticut trucking operator pleads guilty in $3.5M Amazon fraud scheme
A Connecticut trucking company owner has pleaded guilty to wire fraud after admitting he defrauded Amazon of more than $3.5 million through a scheme involving fake freight movements.
Ameer Nasir, 25, of Trumbull, Conn., entered the plea in federal court in Bridgeport, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut.
Prosecutors say Nasir exploited Amazon Logistics’ transportation management system between December 2019 and February 2021 to claim payment for trucking assignments that were never completed.
Amazon Logistics contracts with trucking companies to move empty trailers and loaded freight between warehouses, fulfillment centers, and other facilities. According to court documents, Nasir registered 23 trucking business accounts with the system — including one under his legitimate company, Pak Express Transport LLC, and others using false identities or the names of other transportation companies without their knowledge.
Authorities say Nasir used those accounts to sign up for more than 1,000 transportation assignments, then manipulated data to make it appear the trailer movements had occurred. He subsequently submitted invoices for the work, which Amazon paid.
Through the scheme, Amazon was defrauded of more than $3.5 million, prosecutors said.
Nasir was arrested May 8, 2025, and later released on a $300,000 bond. He has agreed to pay restitution totaling $3,547,090.93.
Wire fraud carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years. Nasir is scheduled to be sentenced May 29, 2026.
The case was investigated by the FBI with assistance from Amazon and is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Connecticut.
