Thermo King recognizes top 3 tech challenge winners
Scott DeWaal has repeated as the winner of Thermo King’s Top Dealer Technician competition.
The Peak Thermo King technician competed against 158 others this year, up 36% from the prior year, when he was also named the winner.

“Investment in our technicians is key to our success as a business and to keeping our customers and the industry moving,” said Joey DeLoach, dealer development leader for Thermo King Americas. “This skilled workforce is necessary to protect equipment health and deliver a gold standard of service that ensures food, medicines and other perishable goods are delivered safely.”
The competition consists of a qualifier test, a virtually proctored, timed knowledge test, and an in-person, hands-on competition for the 10 finalists.
The final round requires technicians to work under pressure to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair various refrigeration units and auxiliary power units while being timed and judged.
DeWaal earned $10,000 and a “Dynasty Wrench” trophy, which he will present to the 2026 Top Tech winner. Aaron Hunt of CSTK East in Philadelphia and Josh Carpenter of Thermo King Eastern Canada in Toronto rounded out the top three.
