Amazon is expanding its last-mile delivery network in Canada with the launch of two new delivery service partner hubs in Lethbridge, Alta., and Owen Sound, Ont.

The facilities represent a newer model for Amazon in Canada in which local Delivery Service Partners — independent businesses contracted by the company — operate smaller delivery hubs that extend service to customers outside major urban centers, Amazon said in a release.

Under the model, customer orders are sorted at nearby Amazon delivery stations and transported to the new facilities, where partner companies load packages onto delivery vehicles for final delivery.

The Owen Sound facility spans more than 7,500 sq.-ft. and is located in the city’s industrial park, while the Lethbridge location measures about 20,000 sq.-ft. in Churchill Industrial Park.

“Amazon is committed to offering the fastest delivery speeds for our customers, and we are constantly innovating and investing in our local network, including in smaller cities and communities,” said Jasmin Begagic, director of Amazon Logistics Canada, in a release.

The Lethbridge site is operated by RHAY Logistics, a local Delivery Service Partner.

“My drivers and I are proud to be part of the local community,” said Aminat Popoola, owner of RHAY Logistics. “Our team in Lethbridge and the surrounding area are hearing positive feedback from local customers, who appreciate the dedication of our drivers and our commitment to supporting local businesses and charities.”

Amazon said the new facilities help expand delivery coverage and improve service reliability for customers in surrounding communities. The hubs follow similar launches in Kingston in 2023 and Sarnia and Cornwall, Ont., in 2025 as the company continues to build out its Canadian delivery network.
