BCTA Offers $5,500 In Scholarships to Students

 

LANGLEY, BC- The British Columbia Trucking Association (BCTA) is giving away $5,500 in scholarships to children of member companies, owners and employees.

The deadline to apply is August 15 and the four available scholarships will be awarded by September 15.

The 900-plus-member organization offers four combined scholarships in two categories: The Motor Carrier Member Scholarship and the Associate Member Scholarship. The former is given to children of BCTA member carrier employees, while the latter is given to children of BCTA associate members.

Each category has a 1st place scholarship prize worth $1,625, with runners-up in each being awarded a $1,125 scholarship.

So what are the conditions of the scholarships? Simple: the recipient must be graduating from secondary school or have completed at least one year of post-secondary school. They also must be currently enrolled or in the process of enrolling full-time in an accredited college, university or institute of technology.

Scholarship winners will be evaluated based on academic record, future career plans and goals and community involvement.
